What's the class structure?

Before the class: Preview and Prepare. During the class: Warm-up, Lesson Review, Exercise, Speech/Debate, Feedback. After the class: Receive feedback on the LL platform.

LearningLeaders’ coach-to-student ratio is 1:8.

Before each lesson, students are assigned to finish their homework (e.g., watch lesson videos, prepare for speech/debate, revise speech/arguments).

For class, structure is as follows:

*Depends on levels of class, the time breakdowns differ. A lesson lasts for 2 hours.

  1. Warm-Up (15-20 min): Students are given instructions to work individually or as part of a team to present ideas, arguments, or speeches. Coaches use this opportunity to see how much of the lesson videos students understand and can immediately apply. For Advanced and Distinguished levels, coaches may opt not to run a warm-up in order to prioritize the debate or speech performance.
  2. Lesson Review (20 min): The lesson is taught using our online whiteboard. The coach will review the information covered in the lesson video in greater depth by presenting more background information and multiple examples, and by asking questions.
  3. Mini-Exercises (10-15 min): During and after the lesson review the coach will introduce a few mini-exercises to test students on the skills they have just learned. This helps the coach check for understanding.
  4. Prep Time (15-20 min): Students will use this time to prepare their speeches, either individually or with their partner. Students work on a document that is shared live with the coach. This allows the coach to keep students on track and provide them with extra support by leaving comments directly on their documents.
  5. Debate/Speech Performance (30-50 min): Students debate or present relevant parts of their speeches.
  6. Feedback (10-15 min): The coach presents the results of the debate or general feedback on student performance.

After the class, students will be required to revise their arguments are prepare for the next lesson. The coach will upload detailed feedback on each student’s performance onto the LL platform.
